The aim of the first workpackage is to characterize, for the Eurasian perch, the enzymes involved in the synthesize of HUFA from PUFA. To this end, the transcripts coding desaturases (FADS2, FADS1) and elongases (ELOVL2, ELOVL5) will be identify and their(s) functionality will be investigated in heterologous system (yeast).
