Modulation the HUFA metabolism by lignans.

The effects of the sesamin, a modulator of the lipid metabolism to mammals, will be investigated on the biosynthesis and the abundance of the HUFA in the white muscle of fish.

This experiment will be realized according to the modelling of the fatty acids metabolism based on the complete physical balance assessments.

To this end, an experimental n-3 HUFA free diet will be formulated with a-linolenic (ALA) fatty acid precursor and supplemented with sesamin. The influence of this supplementation on the ß-oxidation and the bioconversion of ALA in EPA and DHA will be measured.
