Structural characterization of the proteins FADS (FADS1 and FADS2).

This study will have for objective to characterize the specific domains involved in the functionality of the desaturases. In addition, we will define the relationships between the amino acids sequence and its enzymatic activity, in order to identify specific characteristics for each protein (FADS1 and FADS2).

Furthermore, we will try to find the differences of structures between FADS2 proteins which could be at the origin of the differences of enzymatic efficiencies observed between fish species.

This work will be investigated on the FADS1/2 of zebrafish (Danio rerio), the FADS1 and FADS2 of rainbow trout, and the FADS1 and FADS2 of perch.
